Description
According to the United Nations, 780 million people still live in extreme poverty. That's more than 11% of the world's population living below the international poverty line, meaning they live on less than $1.90 a day. Switzerland's population is expected to reach 9 million, and the Statistical Office announced in 2021 that 8.7% of Swiss people were below the poverty line. The figures for 2023 have not yet been released, but given the rising cost of living, it's safe to assume we'll reach 10% for last year.
Two wars have emerged in the last two years, not to mention all those that are still current, forgotten or hidden. These wars, global warming, and the post-COVID recession are creating crises never experienced before, and from a realistic and pessimistic perspective, it is difficult to imagine that we will ever find peace of mind and spirit.
While green is symbolic of the colors of hope, this typographic composition is displayed in silver and gold. "Gold" comes from "AUR" which in Hebrew means Light. This gradient reminds us of the alchemists' design: the transmutation of lead into gold which is supposed to make us rich. Rich in spiritual spirit, optimism, positivity as we find in this English translation of "poverty" and which, when read, suggests a possible ending. From Darkness always emerges Light.
